The Cathedral was built between 1560 and 1564, by Juan Miguel de Veramendi (1560) Juan Correa (1564) and Miguel Gutierrez (1615), but its overall construction was completed in 1649. The cathedral style is Baroque, late-Gothic, Plateresque, inside has examples of colonial goldsmith, carved wooden altars, paintings from the Cuzco school. QORICANCHA: The Inca temple of Qoricancha originally was the temple of the sun, on which was built the convent of Santo Domingo. The Qoricancha temple was one of the most revered and respected temples of Cusco (Peru), as the enclosure was sacred and paid homage to the maximum Inca god (Inti) and people could go into only barefoot, fasting and taking a load on back in humility. The facade is built with the finest stone quarry and decorated with a gold band up to 3 meters above the ground. When the Spanish divided their properties, the Qoricancha was given to Juan Pizarro, to be removed all its idols, its 700 plates in gold among other pieces in gold. Then Pizarro transfers the yields to Fray Juan de Olias, who with 12 monks built the convent of Santo Domingo. SACSAYHUAMAN: The impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman is located 2 km away from Cusco. Probably it was begun to build the fortress Sacsayhuaman during the administrations of Inca Pachacutec and Huayna Capac. Its construction lated as 50 years and required the force of some 20,000 men, its outer wall over 9 meters and some stones weighing over 350 tons. Inside the fortress there were large food stores and weapons, water distribution channels, underground tunnels or chincanas, amphitheaters and others. Currently there are remains of the three tiered walls built with limestone. QENQO: Located 4 km away northeast of the city of Cusco, with the archaeological sites of Kenko Grande and kenko Chico. Etymologically, it means labyrinth or zigzag, its role was purely religious place where it was realized public ceremonies, is a semicircular area of 55 meters long with 19 incomplete niches distributed to along the wall. At the top is a rock carved in the shape of steps, one that is shaped like a small channel in a zigzag pattern, originate from a pit and descends in the form of a branch which may have served to drive the beer or the blood of the llama in the offerings and forecast the future of crops, one of the channels reaches to underground chamber. Besides above there is another stones carved into a cylinder which could be a sundial or astronomical observatory to know about the solstices or equinoxes. In the underground chamber you can see the carvings of floors, ceilings, walls, tables, niches, head of the condor and puma, undoubtedly was a place of worship for hidden secrets and rituals. PUCAPUCARA: Old Inca checkpoint, considered a control rather than everything that came out or entered to Cusco. There were along the Inca trails; their construction is rustic formed by streets, houses and yards. It is said that the Inca used to visit the baths of Tambomachay and the soldiers, dancers and others stayed at Puca Pucara which was headquarters. There are 3 walls of buildings of different levels, rooms of different sizes, houses surrounding the square. TAMBOMACHAY: Located 9 km away from Cusco, on the river of Tambomachay, also known as the place of water or bath of the Inca by the shape of their water sources. Apparently it was the favorite resort of the Inca as well as a defensive system of the valley of Cusco. Probably this place was related to the worship of water, because the site is composed of finely carved stone terraces, aqueducts and springs.
